Haley Farm State Park
The Haley Farm is a preserved farm from the Colonial era of Connecticut’s past. Wide, accessible trails wind through the lush, beautiful pastures near Palmer Cove. Dogs on-leash are welcome, and, if you’re a cyclist, it’s a great place for riding!
Pequot Woods Park
At Pequot Woods, 140 acres of wooded trails, ponds, boulders, bridges, and streams show you how beautiful our piece of Connecticut can be! The park is open from sunup to sundown and has a dirt parking lot. You’ll encounter some moderately difficult portions of trail, including some marshland.
Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center
Over eight miles of trails make this wildlife sanctuary an intriguing hike with a natural history museum and opportunities for the kids to learn about nature! The $8 for adults and $5 for kids is well worth the adventure you get in return!
Barn Island Wildlife Management Area
This 1,000-acre area is a vast and diverse terrain perfect for a day hike! You’ll enjoy hiking in forests, trudging through marshes, and the vast, open fields. This is a great place to take the dog on-leash or for the wildlife photographer to get their next great shot. The area is open from sunup to sundown with limited parking.
Beebe Pond Park
At the Beebe Pond Park, there are about 97 acres navigated by easy trails. On it, you’ll find old stone walls, boulders, a salt pond, streams, the remains of an old mill, and a swamp! For an easy hike, this is the place for you!
