* Moby Dick ReadingMoby Dick Reading

Visitors, Museum volunteers, and staff join together to read aloud Herman Melville's "Moby-Dick" in a 24-hour marathon event aboard the whaleship Charles W. Morgan. The reading begins at noon on July 31 and concludes approximately 24 hours later on the author's birthday. The first and last chapters are read by a professional actor portraying Melville himself.

* Northeast Connecticut ArtsNortheast Connecticut Arts

This is first annual Northeast Connecticut Arts Festival. More than 300 artists and artisans gather to feature their original works of art. This juried show will include glass, jewelry, leather, paintings, drawings, photography, pottery, sculpture, textile design, weaving, woodworking, consumable crafts, and more. In addition, the festival will include featured non-profit organizations, food vendors, and entertainment from local performers.

* Stonington Village FairStonington Village Fair

This annual tradition takes place the first Saturday in August every year. Held on Wadawanuck Square (the library green) right in the heart of the Stonington Borough from 11:00-4:00 p.m. Throughout the day you will find endless things to do including: craft vendors, book sale, Treasures and Trifles table, entertainment, garden club flower sale, kids games and rides, food from local restaurants, and the famous soup kitchen.

Wooo hooo…we’ve been cited as New England’s BEST farmers’ market by Yankeee Magazine AND selected as one of USA Today’s “Top 10 great places to shop at a farmers market!” The Coventry Regional Farmers’ Market is like a country fair every Sunday… the old-fashioned kind, with farmers, produce, freshly baked pies, sparkling jars of preserves and pickles, handmade goods, and fiddlers. New England Travel Magazine calls ours “Connecticut’s preeminent farmers’ market.” June through October, it’s the largest and most diverse farmers’ market in Connecticut.
